HOLIDAY MURDERGAME WHERE ARE THEY NOW MEME



It's the hap-happiest season of all, and what better way to celebrate than by remembering that one (or more) horribly traumatic experience that permanently changed the face of not only your relationships but possibly your outlook on life itself?

Any character (including NPCs!) who's ever been in any murdergame is invited! Feel free to share with your friends!

Regardless of how you choose to use this meme, there's two blanket rules:
1) Make sure the header of your comment has your character's name, home canon, and murdergame listed. If you used the same account for several murdergames, you can use the same toplevel for all of them.
2) No blank comments! First and foremost this is a chance to catch up with old murdergame buddies, and maybe make new ones if you choose! Thus, your comment should go into whatever degree of detail you like describing what life has been like since the murdergame ended. Did life go back to normal? Did they get married? Have a kid? Move to another universe entirely and start over with their found family? Have they kept in touch? Go into as much detail as you want, just put something!

You can use this meme to set up any kind of "canon" or canon-compliant holiday threads with your castmates, big holiday party or no.

OR... you can pretend that there's an interdimensional all-murdergame nondescript winter holiday party that you've been invited to attend! Maybe the Curtains narrators made sure the Denny's was conveniently empty (don't mind the weird old guy in the woods out back), or maybe there was some other convenient arrangement. Either way, you received an invite, and you're here now! So spike the eggnog and check for mistletoe, because the night is probably going to get wild.

[Duster keeps one of the cheese cubes in his hand. Haruka is free to steal food, but some things are just for him.]

I heard some of them came from the sky [he means space.] and from the water. They're desperate to find new places to hide all this. Maybe...it means it'll happen less.

[Haruka laughs, and while she doesn't apologize, she does toss him a small candy cane in return.]

Yeah, considering we basically wiped out all the ones on the world they actually came from. I wonder how it spread to all these places, anyway? Especially since they all have different stories for that.

They escaped on a ship? Like how King P in my world was able to travel to a time and place where he wasn't barred from. They might've used the interdimensional portal to get to other worlds and teach them about the games.

Yeah, or maybe built their own! Or someone else built one and kidnapped one of them like what happened to us, and they taught them about it there! Shock! The victim becomes the teacher! They then move throughout the worlds to find villains to share their plans with! Going door to door like a religious evangelist! The cult of «die school»! Converting everyone and not even giving them free stuff!

What's even the point? What does anyone gain from running this?

...I guess, I think there was a magic ritual involved with some of these people. [Wasn't there one person talking about an alchemy circle?]

Maybe it's also just making people miserable for the sake of it, like for us.

It's senseless. [He tosses a carrot slice into his mouth and chomps on it.] I'll never understand why some people want to drive others into despair. Monaca...needed someone to help her instead of driving her to kidnap us all.

[mopocalypse]

It's... not something you want to understand, Aniki. [Haruka slumps a little.] Wanting everyone else to suffer 'cause you are, thinking there's only so much happiness to go around and that the only way to get yours is to take someone else's, or even that no one deserves it and everyone should just be miserable. I was like that for a long time, you know, you know? I don't ever want to go back.

[mindofathief]

You were a kid, Haruka. You and Monaca. You were trying to make sense of the world. But so many of these guys are adults. They should have known better.

[mopocalypse]

I guess if no one helps you when you need it, then you just... end up like that for a long time, or maybe forever, huh?

[mindofathief]

...I want to believe anyone can change. But they have to accept that they were wrong. People...don't like to think that they ever made a mistake. [Like many of the family members that made the Despair Delinquents who they are.]

[mopocalypse]

Yeah. It takes a lot to do it, I guess. Even the people who did mean well.

[Haruka's long since reconciled with her sister. She's talked with all her parents and started to get along with them. Her extended family who put them all in those positions in the first place? The best she can hope for is that they learn something in prison. But she still thinks about what she said the day they all broke out.]

No one's born evil. So I guess there's always hope, huh?

[mindofathief]

Yeah.

[He sets the plate aside. There was a point where so many terrible people changed for the worse. Everyone had the opportunity to make amends, whether it was a distant father or a king. There were so many missed chances for reconciliation, and Duster is all the better for moving on instead of waiting for an apology that would never happen.]

We just have to make that hopeful thing happen.

[mopocalypse]

[She leans a little against Duster and continues to eat the snacks from the table.]

That's kinda what we do, so it should be no trouble, no trouble. Though I still have no idea who sent us here.

[Duster thinks for a second.]

Santa?

Wait, your theory is that this is a world where Santa-san is real and decided to spend his time making a party for everyone who's ever been in «place of die»?

[When she puts it that way, Duster has doubts.]</small. ...I guess he's not that powerful, huh.

[mopocalypse]

I dunno. I guess if there's a world where he's an actual guy who magically gives stuff to kids, why not. Maybe we're supposed to investigate? That is kind of what we do.

[mindofathief]

Just like old times? [They never really forgot their trials, and even now, Duster thinks in terms of investigations when minor incidents happen.]

[mopocalypse]

I mean, I hope not bad like old times. And something weird happened to me every time in those, too. Did anyone tell you about the time I had to dive in the pool and it was full of glitter? Or wait, did I tell you that? I forget.

[mindofathief]

Glitter!? [No, he never heard of it.] How did you not get a hundred cuts?

[mopocalypse]

'Cause it's glitter? It's not that bad, just kind of inconvenient.

[mindofathief]

It's still a lot of glitter for one pool.

[mopocalypse]

Yeah, I guess so. I just remember everything being kind of weird, but it was messed up, messed up. Too many things happened all the time.

You have to tell me the story. [He holds out his plate of crackers to her. An offering for her to regale the tale of the glitter pool.]
